Daniel Innerarity- 'Una teoría crítica de la inteligencia artificial'

The Ramón Areces Foundation is organizing a lecture on April 1st by Daniel Innerarity, IKERBASQUE Research Fellow at the University of the Basque Country, entitled "A Critical Theory of Artificial Intelligence." The lecture will be introduced by Senén Barro, director of the Center for Research in Intelligent Technologies (CiTIUS) at the University of Santiago de Compostela, who will then participate in a discussion with the speaker and the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, María González Veracruz. Like bureaucracy for the modern state, artificial intelligence seems destined to become the logic of legitimation for organizations and governments in digital societies. The three elements that will modify the politics of this century are: increasingly intelligent systems, more integrated technology, and a more quantified society. The way in which the governance of these technologies is configured will be decisive for the future of democracy: it could lead to its destruction or its strengthening. According to Lincoln's famous formula, democracy is a system of government in which the people are present as the holders, subjects, and recipients of political action. To determine whether liberal democracy is inextricably linked to the analog world, we must first elucidate what kind of political subjectivity corresponds to the people in the world of artificial intelligence, what kind of popular will is expressed in big data, and how we decide when to refine our automated processes.
