Coloquio- 'Matemáticas, Inteligencia Artificial y Ética'

The Royal Spanish Mathematical Society (RSME) and the Ramón Areces Foundation are organizing the colloquium 'Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence and Ethics' on April 21st, featuring Alicia Dickenstein (President of the National Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences of Argentina), Emilio Carrizosa Priego (President of the Spanish Network of Mathematics-Industry, math-in), and M. Victoria Otero Espinar (President of the RSME). Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing our lifestyle: it is changing the way we work, how we interact, how we experience leisure, and even how we are governed. Despite its beneficial contributions, AI tools are not without controversy, as biases inherited from the data and the opacity of the procedures have sometimes led to undesirable situations. The aim of this colloquium is to discuss how mathematics, a fundamental component of artificial intelligence models and algorithms, can also help make it more transparent, fairer, and ultimately, more humane.
