This story starts with Ken's father who was a B-17 pilot and was shot down over Belgium in the second world war. And the people from Oradour-sur-Glane where amongst the ones who paid with there lives for his and all the others that where rescued by the French resistance. The original village of Oradour-sur-Glane is widely known for having been destroyed and its inhabitants massacred by Nazi Germany in World War II—and subsequently left in its destroyed state as a memorial.
