Amusetour levert ruim 5000 euro op voor Huis aan het Water

On Sunday, June 7, Huis aan het Water in Katwoude organized a 20 km bike ride with stops along the way where participants were treated to a snack and a drink accompanied by music. The Huis is a center for living with and after cancer. 110 people took part. They could start at three locations: at IJssalon Honingh in Volendam, at AtMirror in Monnickendam, and at De Taanketel on Marken. The route also included the Marken-Volendam crossing with the Marken Express (or vice versa, depending on the cyclists' route, either 'clockwise' or 'clockwise'). PIM rode part of the tour and arrived at IJssalon Honingh, where Bob van Houten and Band (Bob, Rob, and Eelke) were playing. The participants received a tasty ice cream at this point. Here, PIM spoke with Herman Sier, a volunteer at the Huis who helped the starters on their way. He is one of the creators of the amuse-tour. As a volunteer at the Huis aan het Water, he is a fundraiser. The amuse-tour followed the Challenge at the Hemmeland. All of this was done to raise money for this house, where cancer patients and their families can go for support, care, conversations with a psychologist and fellow sufferers, massages, and sports. Or you can simply drop by for a cup of coffee. The Huis aan het Water was founded by Matty Hakvoort and his wife Karin Hoogeveen. Karin works as a coordinator and continues to do so. of this year, after which she will retire. We spoke to her at the House itself. She is also busy with a similar type of house, but in Amsterdam-Noord. As an appetizer, you were served sushi by Sushi Kagame at the House and could listen to jazz by pianist Arjen de Bood and singer Eldrid de Jong. By then, the sun had started shining nicely, and we found participants on the terrace at AtMirror. Johan Horjus was playing here with his band. We asked the cyclists why they were participating. Some because they have had cancer themselves or know people with cancer. But also because the route appealed to them or because it is fun to go on such a bike ride with friends, with lovely stops. For the House, it does not matter why someone participates; it is simply nice that there are people who contribute to its continued existence. The other stops were at the intersection towards Uitdam, snack bar GeeJee, and the Taanketel. In addition to those mentioned above, participating musicians included: Jay Vickers, Blaskapelle 'Fur Anker', and the Juliana student orchestra. under the direction of Sascha Ewouds, Vleppyie Auwers, and DJ Peter Hoeve. And it certainly wouldn't have been possible without volunteers! More information about Huis aan het Water: www.huisaanhetwater.nl.
