Hermeneutics 101 - Video 4 of 12
Who are the people of Elohim? How do Gentile believers relate to Israel? What was the purpose of the Jerusalem Council in Acts 15? And what did Paul mean when he spoke of the "middle wall of separation" being removed? In this fourth lesson of *Reading Difficult Scriptures — Hermeneutics 101*, we apply the principles of sound biblical interpretation to some of the most important passages concerning Gentile believers and their relationship to the covenants, promises, and people of Elohim. Rather than assuming answers, we carefully examine the context, the historical setting, and the questions the biblical authors were actually addressing. In this study we examine: • Ephesians 2 • The "middle wall of separation" • Jew and Gentile in Messiah • The covenants of promise • Acts 15 and the Jerusalem Council • The four instructions given to Gentile believers • Moses being read every Sabbath • First-century traditions concerning Gentiles • Unity within the people of Elohim What was being removed? What remained? And how should we understand the relationship between Jewish and Gentile believers today? This is Video 4 of a 12-part series. "Test all things; hold fast what is good." (1 Thessalonians 5:21)
