Adding non-Märklin 3-rail Locomotive to the Mobile Station 2 as DCC (MS2 Episode 4)

This video illustrates how to configure non-Märklin locomotives on the Märklin Mobile Station 2 (MS2) using DCC. This tutorial will show how to find the information needed in the locomotive/decoder manuals, how to experiment (address change & reset) and how to finalize the locomotive with all functions in the Mobile Station 2. The Roco 79987 locomotive is used as an example. The tutorial illustrates how to change locomotive name, symbol, address. Finally, it is shown how to reset a DCC locomotive. WARNING: Please be aware that there is a difference between tracks by Märklin and other vendors. Märklin is a 3-rail system and requires an extra slider underneath and other wiring inside. Standard DCC is 2-rail and the locomotives will not work on the Märklin tracks. The video shows how to use DCC to configure a Roco DCC 3-rail locomotive that is built for 3-rail. The tutorial covers Mobile Station with software version 3.112. Newer versions should work the same, but some older may not. If you have an older software version consider upgrading your Mobile Station 2 to the latest version. WARNING: Changing these settings may make your locomotive inoperable if you are not careful. However, you can reset the locomotive to factory settings. Be aware that reset might not work as intended on early or non-factory delivered decoders.
