Kenwood NX-700 GPS Chart Plotter Construction Details

In this video I go into the details of setting up a Kenwood NX-700 data transfer interface. This setup will take a location sentence from a Garmin 18X GPS unit, feed it to an Arduino to convert the sentence from $GPGLL to $GPWPL, the converted sentence is input into the Kenwood where it is packetized and broadcast via rf to a distant radio. The distant radio receives the broadcast and reassembles the original sentence to be fed to a pc/laptop. The 2 radios act as virtual wires for the RS232 serial data. The units have the capability for their own mapping use or act just as tracked vehicles.
