Using Kenwood NX-700 Radios to Backhaul GPS RS232 Data
In this video I demonstrate how to configure a pair of Kenwood NX-700 radios to transport RS232 data wirelessly from one point to another. In this example I am using GPS $GPWPL sentences sent at 4800 baud. The Kenwood automatically transmits the data after the sentence loads. No PTT is required. Just Zone assignments for the data channel, Transparent for Com Port 1, and a couple of wires. Very easy to do. I could not get Transparent2 mode to work with an NXDN channel. But Transparent worked the very first time I tried it. These same functions are available on newer NX-1700 models as well.
