On October 8, 2025, I rose early to visit the relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in his basilica in Bari. Alexander invited me to read the Akathist hymn to the relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. I arrived at the church early and found myself alone. I sat by the relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, thought, asked, and thanked him. The Akathist hymn flew by very soulfully. I thought I'd just stand there and read silently, as they say, for company, but Alexander read aloud and passed the baton to me through the Kontakion + Ikas. I must admit, this was the first time I'd read aloud like this in a church, especially in such a church, but I soon noticed that people began to gather behind us and join us. Today is the day of my departure from Bari to Rome. I strolled around Bari, saw the nearby sights, and returned to the Basilica of St. Nicholas to linger near the relics, say goodbye, and give thanks for everything. Alexander took me to the train station, and I traveled from Bari to Rome, where I would spend two days. After checking into my apartment, I decided to take a stroll around the city, following my guide's advice, so I could see a few sights on my own, saving time on the guided tour of Rome tomorrow. I visited the Cathedral of Santa Maria Maggiore, where I saw the famous "Manger"—fragments of the wooden manger in which the baby Jesus was born—and I photographed this Christian relic for you. After that, I simply went to see the city's sights, such as the Pantheon, Fondana de Trevi, Piazza Navona, the Spanish Steps, and others. In my blog, I hope I was able to convey the beauty of Rome at night. I had dinner at a restaurant downtown and went back to my room – ready to go to bed, as it was early in the morning – for a tour with my guide, Elena.
