NS 1038 Leads Intermodal West & Crossing Timeout | Carroll St. Railroad Crossing #1, Wabash, IN

Tuesday, June 23, 2026 I would move east into Wabash to redo this crossing after our last horrible attempt here. I waited until I saw that the intermediate was still showing red and NS 259 was talked by the dispatcher to pass the red signal. I would start hearing a horn down the line and I catch NS 259 slowly heading west with an NS SD70ACe and an NS ET44AC at the Carroll Street railroad crossing #1 in Wabash on the Huntington District. A few seconds before the train came, the crossing briefly triggered. This crossing has 2 differently aged gated signals with the right signal being an older 1970s or 80s N&W WCH signal with no changes, while the left signal is an NS late 2000s/early 2010s NS gated signal that would only have its diagonally striped gate with NEG incandescents replaced with a vertically striped one with NEG LEDs.
