A visit to the Zillertalbahn - August 2013

The 760mm gauge Zillertalbahn runs along the bottom of the Ziller valley for almost 32 km from Jenbach in the north to Mayerhofen in the south. It now operates an intensive service using diesel locos and railcars although there is still room in the timetable to fit in a steam-hauled round trip. In 2013 this steam-hauled working was supplemented by a short return early afternoon working from Mayerhofen to Aschau. This is missing from the 2018 timetable.
