Casa SCR is located in the municipality of Mantua, in the Belfiore area and is a renovation from the 1960s by the Nicola Salami Architetto studio. The objective of the intervention was to protect the original elements of the building, which make it recognizable and characteristic. In particular, we tried to re-propose these elements in the points where the architectural quality of the original project was less evident. The clinker windows on the south side were kept inside the telescope, creating a curtain that protects the privacy of the sleeping area and lets light filter through. The entrances were also designed: pedestrian, characterized by two large olive trees, and driveway from the main street. The flooring for the external areas is in gray porphyry, in continuity with those currently present on the public sidewalk. The original irregularly shaped swimming pool was renovated with a rectangular shape, bringing it closer to the villa and taking up its formal and material characteristics; it was built flush with the ground and covered in gray lake concrete, for greater environmental integration. The flooring between the pool and the house is in heat-treated ash, creating a comfortable sunbathing area. The design of the external spaces and greenery is studied in detail as an element of decoration, mitigation and protection of privacy. Casa SCR is divided into two floors: the mezzanine floor houses the living areas, while the basement is dedicated to leisure, sports, services and technical rooms. Upstairs, the living area has been completely renovated, creating a clear separation between the living and sleeping areas. The living area is open and large, with an integrated kitchen and large revolving fireplace. It faces completely towards the lake, with a large window and a terrace framed by the telescope that characterizes the entire building. The sleeping area was reorganized to create three bedrooms with private bathrooms, respecting the client's needs to have three independent and private sleeping areas. On the lower floor, the large window facing the lake and the swimming pool allows the internal and external spaces to be opened up and permeated. On this floor, the spaces are completely open to conviviality and sharing. We find a second kitchen for summer convivial moments, a fireplace passing between the two main rooms, a small gym and a Turkish bath. The basement is completed by ancillary and technical rooms and the garage.
