Caterham 340R - Un Essai pas comme les autres !

Let me tell you about my unique experience: I traveled from France to test the 2025 Golf 8 GTI and Golf 8R sports cars on the legendary Nürburgring circuit. I landed an unexpected opportunity at the last minute. Thanks to a spontaneous phone call, Caterham exceptionally lent me a 2025 340R and allowed me to take to the track in privileged conditions. Accompanied by Frédéric Houivet, my devoted coach, we were able to maximize every inch of this exceptional roadster. Technical Overview and Character of the Caterham 340R Designed to be a blend of lightness and sensations, the 340 R is distinguished by: Engine: Ford Duratec 2.0L naturally aspirated, delivering 168–170 hp at 7,250 rpm, with a maximum torque of around 175 Nm. Lightweight: Between 560 and 579 kg, for an exceptional power-to-weight ratio of approximately 3.3 to 3.4 kg/hp. Performance: 0-100 km/h in 4.7 to 4.9 s. Top speed: 209 km/h. Chassis and Equipment: R Pack: Limited-slip differential, sports suspension, 15" Orcus wheels, 4-point harness, carbon fiber dashboard. Ventilated disc brakes with 4-piston calipers at the front, ultra-direct, unassisted rack-and-pinion steering. Minimalist and streamlined chassis, hand-built in Great Britain. Character and feel on the track Total immersion: no electronic aids (no ABS or ESP) and ultra-lightweight structure, for a raw and authentic feel. Agility and precision: hyper-responsive steering, firm Bilstein suspension (R Pack), and a featherweight that makes every turn feel like a surgical move. On the Nürburgring: top speed around 200 km/h in a straight line, but the advantage comes from late braking, technical corners, and rapid changes of direction. A machine that sometimes catches up with much more powerful cars thanks to its sheer dynamics. Did you like it? #Caterham #Caterham340R #Nürburgring #Nordschleife #AutoTest #Trackday
