6 Benefits of Living in Bulgaria (After 1 Year)

After more than a year of living in Bulgaria full time, we finally feel ready to talk about some of the beneftis we experience by living here. Some of what we’ve experienced aligns with what we expected going in. Other aspects became clearer only after settling into daily life here—once the logistics were behind us and Bulgaria stopped feeling “new” and started feeling like home. In this video, I reflect on the ways our life has changed since moving from the U.S. to Bulgaria, and why—overall—this chapter has held up better than we imagined. This isn’t a highlight reel or a sales pitch. It’s a grounded look at how living here has affected our health, finances, relationships, sense of safety, and overall pace of life after a full year on the ground. If you’re curious about what long-term life abroad can really look like—or you’re considering a move yourself—I hope this perspective helps. If you’ve made a move out of the U.S., I’d love to hear what your experience has been. And if you’re Bulgarian, feel free to share what you appreciate most about life here. Thanks for watching, and consider subscribing if you’d like to follow along as we continue navigating life abroad.
