Aluvión en Quito: cuatro años después, la memoria sigue viva en la Comuna de Santa Clara

Four years after the mudslide of January 31, 2022, the Santa Clara de San Millán community continues to face the consequences of a tragedy that marked Quito. This video explores the territory, the memories, and the voices of the community, an ancestral community located in the north-central part of the capital, where 29 people lost their lives after the El Tejado ravine overflowed. Beyond the numbers, the mudslide left deep scars on daily life, community organization, and the way of inhabiting a high-risk territory. Here, we speak of prevention, pending projects, fear when it rains, but also of resilience, community identity, and the symbolic value of spaces like the volleyball court, now a place of remembrance.
