Gurkha fights off more than a dozen Taliban fighters
A Gurkha who single-handedly fought off an attack by more than a dozen Taliban fighters, has been awarded Britain's second highest military medal - the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross. As the name suggests, it is given for acts of 'conspicuous gallantry' and is second only to the Victoria Cross, which is awarded for 'most conspicuous bravery'. In over fifteen minutes of fighting Acting Sergeant Dipprasad Pun fired four hundred rounds of ammunition, 17 grenades and, when his rifle jammed, threw his tripod at the enemy knocking one of his attackers down.
