đŸ”„ Puig-reig Templars!! Puig-reig, at an altitude of 455 meters and inhabited by 4,300 people, is a peaceful village nestled on the southern slope of a hill on the right bank of the Llobregat River, south of the BerguedĂ  region of Barcelona. It is undoubtedly one of the villages with the strongest Templar tradition in the Western world, as evidenced by its rich historical and architectural heritage. It was a son of this village, the troubadour and poet Guillem de Berguedan (1130-1195), who, in 1187, boldly bequeathed the castle of Puig-reig and its lands to the Knights Templar in his will. The Knights Templar, who arrived from the commandery of Santa MarĂa Magdalena in Palau-SolitĂ  i Plegamans, transformed Puig-reig into a safe and thriving town. They consolidated the upper fortress, much of whose original structure remains, including the kitchens, stables, and several rooms, which we can admire today thanks to recent, exemplary restorations. They also built the elegant bridge over the Llobregat River and constructed the church of Sant Andreu de Cal Pallol, which preserves interesting mural paintings and a small cemetery with anthropomorphic tombs.
