Mentes Transformadoras, docentes como agentes de cambio | Rodrigo Tapia | TEDxPlazaBaquedanoED

The Transformative Minds program, developed by the Biomedical Neuroscience Institute (BNI) at the University of Chile in conjunction with Biointeractive - Howard Hughes Medical Institute, has fostered the formation of learning communities among science teachers. The key to this process has been valuing teachers and creating spaces and opportunities for their professional development. Rodrigo is a biochemist from the Catholic University and has dedicated the last 10 years of his career to science outreach and education through the development of projects that integrate multiple formats such as games, comics, installations, workshops, and animations. He is currently the Director of Outreach and Education at the Biomedical Neuroscience Institute of the University of Chile, where he leads the Transformative Minds Education Program. This program offers professional development workshops for teachers and innovative resources for teaching biology. It stems from a collaboration with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in the United States. Since last year, they have held an Education Congress that involves the participation of various cultural institutions in the Matucana area. This program has just partnered with the CPEIP (Center for Improvement, Experimentation and Pedagogical Research) of the Ministry of Education to begin a pilot program for training learning communities.
