In this video, we rent a car in Morocco for the first time and travel through the Atlas Mountains, Aït Benhaddou, Ouarzazate, and Dades Gorge on our way toward Merzouga and the edge of the Sahara. To be honest, we were pretty nervous about renting a car in Morocco. Between the driving reputation, mountain roads, and navigating everything ourselves, it felt a little intimidating at first - and originally, we weren’t even planning to do this. But once we realized how much flexibility it gave us (and that it was almost cheaper than taking buses between each destination), it quickly started to make sense. This road trip ended up being one of the most scenic travel days we’ve ever done. From winding roads through the Atlas Mountains to ancient kasbahs and dramatic desert landscapes, every stop along the route felt completely different from the last.
