Antigua Guatemala: Is It Worth Visiting in 2026? 🇬🇹

Is Antigua Guatemala worth visiting, or is it starting to feel too touristy? In this video, we explore Antigua, Guatemala to see if it really lives up to the hype and whether it’s still worth adding to your travel itinerary. Known for its colorful colonial streets, historic architecture, and volcano views, Antigua is one of the most popular destinations in Central America. But with that popularity, we wanted to experience it for ourselves and see what it’s actually like beyond the photos. We spent our time exploring the historic centre on a free walking tour, wandering through Mercado de Antigua, and visiting some of the city’s most iconic landmarks like Santa Catalina Arch and La Merced Church. We also explored San José Cathedral, including the catacombs beneath it, before finishing the day with a hike up to Cerro de la Cruz for one of the best views over the city. It ended up being a full two days of exploring, and a really interesting way to experience both the highlights and the atmosphere of Antigua.
