Lung ultrasound exam can provide crucial information about the underlying pulmonary disease process, and can be of vital importance in diagnosis of serious conditions like pneumothorax, pulmonary edema, pneumonia, pleural effusion, etc. An ultrasound exam of the heart and lungs can help with a quick bedside diagnosis, assessment of the severity of illness, and aid in therapeutic decision making for several life threatening illnesses.
