CARDIAC POINT OF CARE ULTRASOUND (POCUS)
Cardiac exam is crucial for assessment of several disease states, and point of care ultrasound (POCUS) can give valuable information about the structure and function of the heart. Information obtained via POCUS can be useful for diagnosis and also for therapeutic decision making. This information can be life saving in a critically ill patient. In this video, I discuss the details of the POCUS exam of the heart. If you have not already done so, I recommend watching my video on general principles of POCUS before watching the discussion on cardiac POCUS.
