Kompozycje wielogatunkowe na balkon i taras. Pelargonie, petunie, scewole, koleusy, sundeville

Beautiful flowers for balconies or terraces, and more June multi-species arrangements. Geraniums, petunias, scaevola, coleus, mosquitoes, and sundevillea! That's the topic of today's video in the "Balconies and Terraces" series. Enjoy! The beginning of June is still the time to plant beautiful balcony plants in outdoor planters, available in garden centers, supermarkets, and online. They tempt you with their colorful blooms and foliage, so you can find a little more space on your balcony or patio. My plantings today include species such as geraniums, petunias with wonderfully variegated flowers, scaevola, plectranthus, coleus, and sundevillea. What arrangements will they create? The first pot, a slightly larger balcony box, will contain two geranium seedlings with gorgeous salmon-pink flowers. Among them, a scaevola with dark purple flowers, the 'Surdive Super Purple' variety, will grow for contrast. These flowers resemble small fans and appear on growing, elongating shoots throughout the season. Scaevola has a trailing habit and loves sun and fertile, humus-rich soil, just like geraniums. Today's second composition will be of ornamental foliage plants. Because not only can we plant flowering beauties on balconies and terraces, but also species whose leaves are just as spectacularly decorative as the flowers on other plants. And one of these plants certainly includes the coleus, also known as Brazilian nettle. In my case, it will be the 'Kong Rose' variety, with very large leaves and unusually intense coloration. Coleus also blooms with blue inflorescences, but they are inconspicuous and less decorative than this plant's leaves. Therefore, it's recommended to remove these flower heads to encourage branching and more colorful foliage. In a traditional window box, one seedling is sufficient; I plant two in a larger pot for a wow effect. Joining the Coleus on the sides will be Plectranthus 'Nico Dark Green', also known as the mosquito plant. This variety has relatively large, dark green leaves with purple-burgundy undersides. Coleus has an upright habit, while Plectranthus is a hanging plant, so over time, a cascade of mosquito plant leaves will begin to hang from this pot on both sides. Its shoots can reach lengths of 60 to 100 cm. Like the Coleus, it can grow in sunny or partially shaded locations, preferably in fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil. The third arrangement will consist of two identically planted, square pots, each with three plants. It will be the Sundevilla 'Flamingo' with its gorgeous light pink flowers. This plant produces an abundance of flowers throughout the season, blooming continuously until late autumn. It is a climber, so it can hang over a pot or be trained vertically along supports. Joining it will be the 'Blue Moon' petunia, a new addition that will undoubtedly be available in many garden centers next season. It has purple-blue flowers with a distinctive white center. Tests are underway to classify this petunia as a supertunia, as it is also very weather-resistant, grows quickly, and develops into a riot of flowers over time. Completing this planting will be another scaevola, this time with white flowers, the 'Snow Blanket' variety. Scaevola varieties with pink, light purple, and blue flowers are also available. All of these plants will thrive best in a sunny location. These flowering balcony seedlings should be planted in their new location at the same depth as they were previously grown in their production pots, in a substrate that can be easily used with ready-to-use potting soil, balcony potting soil, or a general-purpose potting mix. Furthermore, remember to water and fertilize them regularly, as these species are plant-eaters. For this purpose, we can use, for example, crystalline fertilizer for geraniums and other flowering plants, or – if the arrangement is dominated by petunias – crystalline fertilizer for supertunias, surfinias, and other petunias. Start feeding approximately 2-3 weeks after transplanting. The smaller the pot, the denser the planting, and the rainier the weather, the more frequently the plants should be fed. The possibilities for creating plant arrangements on a balcony or patio are endless. There are countless beautiful varieties of classic species, such as geraniums and petunias, as well as a host of new species that are becoming increasingly popular, such as coleus and scaevola...
