Today we travel approximately 280 kilometers from the department of Guatemala to the El Carmen border crossing with Mexico 🇬🇹🇲🇽. On this trip, we cross through Escuintla, Suchitepéquez, Retalhuleu, Quetzaltenango, and San Marcos, passing by highways, national roads, agricultural areas, sugar mills, commercial towns, and the new Xochi highway. During the tour we will see: Sunrise over the Pacific Highway Pacaya Volcano The Palín–Escuintla Highway Reinforced bridges on the CA-2 West Highway The sugarcane region of Escuintla Coconut plantations and their bustling commercial activity The new Xochi Highway Retalhuleu and the turnoff to the IRTRA hostels Coatepeque, Pajapita, and Malacatán The arrival at the El Carmen border crossing We will also learn about the current condition of the roads, which sections are under repair, and how the landscape changes from the metropolitan area to the border with the Mexican state of Chiapas. 📍 Route: Guatemala City → Amatitlán → Palín → Escuintla → Siquinalá → Santa Lucía Cotzumalguapa → Cocales → Suchitepéquez → Xochi Highway → Retalhuleu → Coatepeque → Pajapita → Malacatán → El Carmen Border Crossing. 🔔 Subscribe for more tours of Guatemala and follow me on my other social media.
