A Day in my Life | Living in a Small Mountain Town
Over the fall I moved my life from San Diego to a small mountain town in Colorado. I have been living in a vehicle for the past five years, but I haven't been truly "on the road" for most of those. This was a foray back into life down gravel roads--actually 5 of the 6 roads that make up this town are just that. I was afraid leaving San Diego I'd be giving up many of the convenances it holds for van lifers. But here, in this tiny mountain town, it takes me minutes to move between my chores. The propane fill up is in the laundromat. The showers across the dirt road from that. The library a few streets down has wifi and every new magazine. They write your name on a piece of cardboard and there you are--full access. I haven't met many towns like this. Towns that felt so soft and gritty in equal measures and in all the right ways.
