Orgullo 2026

WHY DO WE CONTINUE TO CELEBRATE LGBTQ+ PRIDE? Every year, when June arrives, the same questions resurface: Why does Pride exist? Don't we already have the same rights? Why do some LGBTQ+ people not feel represented by it? Does it make sense to continue celebrating it in 2026? In this video, we review the history of Pride, from the Stonewall riots to the first demonstrations in Spain, Mexico, and Argentina. We'll talk about key historical figures, the demands that remain unmet in many countries, and the psychological benefits for LGBTQ+ people of feeling part of a community. We'll also reflect on something that generates much debate within the community itself: why some gay men don't identify with Pride and what it truly means to feel proud of oneself after growing up in a society that so often taught us shame. Because Pride isn't just a party. It's memory. It's visibility. It's community. And, for many people, it's also a powerful tool for mental health and self-esteem. Here's the interview with Marsha P.
