Kamwala Traders Onboarded to Digital Waste Platform
Over 1,700 traders at Lusaka’s Kamwala Market have been onboarded onto a new digital waste management platform aimed at improving garbage collection and tracking unpaid bills. The Clean City Waste Management App is being implemented through a joint exercise by the Lusaka Integrated Solid Waste Management Company and JICA. Company Public Relations Manager Sirre Muntanga said the platform is designed to modernize waste management operations by electronically registering businesses and capturing their exact locations using geospatial mapping technology. She explained that the system will improve service delivery by monitoring areas where waste has been collected and identifying places where garbage remains uncollected in real time. Ms. Muntanga added that the pilot project, currently underway at Kamwala Market, will soon be extended to the Central Business District (CBD). #KamwalaMarket #CleanCityApp #WasteManagement #DigitalInnovation #SirreMuntanga #JICA #LusakaCBD #ZNBCNews
