Our First Eye Exam in America | Medicaid Paid for Basic Glasses

In this video, we share our experience going for an eye exam in America. The optometrist put eye drops in our eyes to dilate the pupils so she could clearly see the back of the eye. We also learned that Medicaid pays for basic glasses, but you have to pay extra if you choose upgrades or special options. One funny moment was when mom and son chose the same glasses frame without knowing about each other! After the eye drops, we had to put on dark sunglasses because our pupils were so dilated. This was another new experience for us as South African refugees adjusting to life in the USA. We are thankful for the kindness, help, and medical support we have received.
