@ Chariot of Living Goddess Kumari

Every year on the month of Aug-Sept for 8 days a festival is celebrated in Kathmandu Valley known as Yen Yaha Puni Jatra (that literally means festival of Kathmandu City celebrated on Full moon day). The festival is also related with the story of Indra god( God of Heaven; or rain god). During the festival there are different activities performed like Lakhe dance, dance of gods, dramatic presentation of Ten Incarnations of Lord Vishnu, mask dance of gods, Dance of Pulu kishi(elephant representing vehicle of Indra), traditional music performance of different communities and many more. One of the highlights of the festival is Chariot pulling of living gods Ganesh, God Bhairav and Goddess Kumari. Three chariots are pulled around different sections of Kathmandu for three days which is believed to have started by King Pratap Malla in 17th century.
