Beautiful Port Sunlight Village on the Wirral, Merseyside. Created to Make Soap.

Port Sunlight village was created by William Hesketh Lever to accommodate his workers. Built next to his sunlight soap making factory. It is ideally situated between the river Mersey and railway line. Each group of houses has a different architectural style and nearly every period of British architecture is represented. The art gallery shows Lever's collection of furniture, paintings, sculptures and ceramics. Also worth a visit is Rivington Terraced Gardens in Bolton, Greater Manchester, created by William Lever, with its Italian and Japanese lakes.
