Debussy Bassoon Sonata in G Minor (Violin Sonata) | Nathan Shepherd
Claude Debussy's Sonata for Violin and Piano in G minor (L. 140) was the last piece he wrote before his death in 1918. Here we're performing a transcription for bassoon. Debussy displays his mature harmonic palette in this piece (including some unexpected Spanish flair), as it sounds markedly more progressive than much of his music. Nathan Shepherd, bassoon Madeline Xu, piano Amy Shepherd, camera I. Allegro vivo (0:00) II. Fantasque et léger (4:53) III. Très animé (9:15) Filmed at Oxmoor Farm in my hometown of Louisville, KY. I owe a massive thanks to the Oxmoor Farm team for generously hosting this project. Recorded on a Moosmann 100CL bassoon Audio/video engineering, production, and editing are my own.
