Today, on this 2014 Jeep Cherokee, were going to install part number C56208 from Curt. This is the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness with a four-pole flat. Were going to need to get access back on the taillights so were going to have to open the back hatch. Now, our next step is very important. Well go to underneath the hood and disconnect the battery. Those electronics in this vehicle are so sensitive but this is essential to do this part. Well loosen up the negative terminal and just pull it off. At this point, now our vehicles ready to work on. Now, to get access to the wire harness, were going to have to do some disassemble of the interior. First off, well go ahead and remove these tie-down hooks, one on each side. Now, well go ahead and remove these tie-down hooks here. Give them a quarter turn, you can remove them. Well go ahead and remove our floor coverings getting down to the area of our spare tire. Well just go ahead and take out our spare tire. Now, this whole plastic piece has to come out as well. Well go ahead and remove these screws down these packets, every one on each side. This is the passengers side. This will be our driver's side. This plastic component is under the scuff panel here. Well go ahead and loosen it up as well. Well have to remove these tie-downs. A tool with an angle to it will help get an edge on here and pop it up. Driver's side done. Lets go back to the passenger's side and do the same thing. To remove our scuff panel, a steady pressure pulling up will pop it loose. Now, we can go ahead and remove this plastic component. Theres the same clip right here. It might be easy just to get a screwdriver underneath there and pop it loose. There it is. To help release it, we just push down this side of the clip with a screwdriver and that just gave us enough room to unsnap it. It also helps if we remove our cargo bar here as well. Lets go ahead and remove our taillights now. Theres two screws that we have to remove. Well use a T30 bit. Pulling back and rocking it back and forth seems to help. Right now, well go ahead and disconnect the wire harness from our taillight. Lets push down this tab right here. We can pull it apart. Its hard to see but its right there. Were done for the driver's side. Well go ahead and repeat the same process on the passenger's side. There it is. Now, at this point, we should be able to take our panel and pull it away. Well pull the panel as far away as possible. We wont get too far with this but we just need enough room to run our wires to the inside to the outside. You could feel it around and feel the wire harness where it comes out to the other side. Lets go ahead and loosen the panel on the passenger's side as well. Basically, what were doing is just giving a gentle pull on the bottom and pulling out. It looks like the passenger's side gives us a little more room to work with. Now, were going to have to do a little bit of surgery on this grommet. Well go ahead and pull it out. Were going to see where the wires come through. Were going to make a slit in it to run our T-connectors to it. Now that we know where the wires go, well go ahead and put the grommet back into place. That will hold this for us while were making a cut. Lets go over to the passenger's side and do it one more time. It looks like the wire stays right at the bottom on both sides. Lets go ahead and start putting our wire harness. Lets pull the grommet back out. Set it aside. Were going to take our T-connector and were going to run that behind our plastic and outer hole here. We just had to work it behind there to get into place. Were going to pass this through our slot that we made. We got our T-connector pass through. Well go ahead and reinstall our grommet. Okay. Well go ahead and take our T-connector in and plug into the factory wire harness. Well just let that sit there for now. Ill tuck the wire back underneath that plastic there. Its set into place. Now, well go ahead and take our white wire to the ring terminal that will be our ground. Well attach it to the body right here. Were going to use a self-tapping screw that comes with the kit using a quarter-inch hex cut driver. Ill just go and leave this side of wire harness alone for now. Now, were going to work our T-connector, the green wire. Were simply going to run that underneath our plastic and tuck it behind the carpet to help pull some of our excess and well
