GR® de Pays tour du Canigou : 6 jours de trek fantastiques + ascension du Canigou par la cheminée
The GR® de Pays tour du Canigou is a trekking route located in the Pyrénées-Orientales, which invites you to discover the multiple facets of the sacred mountain of the Catalans: the Canigou peak. Located in the far east of the Pyrenees, very close to the Mediterranean Sea, the Canigou massif is visible from all of Roussillon and a good part of the Gulf of Lion. The Canigou tour is a loop of 5 to 6 days of hiking, generally passable from May to October, possible in bivouac or from refuge to refuge, which allows the walker to cross various landscapes (forests, ridges, high altitude plateaus, etc.). .), to explore different valleys, to encounter varied fauna and flora, and above all to immerse yourself in green and wild landscapes with a mild and sunny climate. Departing from Batère, we set off for a six-day adventure in total autonomy, between Conflent and Vallespir, through the Prats-de-Mollo-la-Preste nature reserve, in the middle of woods, meadows and screes. .. The richness of the route is great, from the small pastoral heritage to the immense viewpoints over the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean coast, from the thick forests to the astonishing high-altitude steppes... And, above us, the summits of the massif are imposing, mineral, colossal: You have to keep your eyes open to see the Canigou peak, surrounded among others by the Serra dels Set Homes and the Puig dels Tres Vents. And since this trek is also an opportunity to discover or rediscover a major peak in the Pyrenees, we allow ourselves a day to climb the Canigou peak (2784 meters) via the wild and renowned Cadí valley route, departing from Arago refuge. After a first portion without difficulty, we climb into the heart of the mountain by crossing the famous Canigou chimney, a technical passage that is surmountable but still sometimes dizzying and requiring attention and vigilance. The reward at the top is immense, the panorama simply fantastic! In any case, with or without the ascent (which it is also possible to do by other routes), the GR® de Pays tour du Canigou is an essential route for all Pyrenees trekking enthusiasts! ------------------------------ ...So if you want to get started too, or if you're hesitant and want more information, I'll give you all the essential information on this trek on my Échappées Montagnardes website.
