This is another video of mine about editing the my_calibration.bin calibration file for Quansheng uv-k5, uv-5R+, and other clones of this radio. I decided to record it because people often share their calibration file on various resources, completely unaware that it's designed only for their radio and may not work properly on other similar radios. Sometimes firmware authors, such as Karina, upload a recommended calibration file along with the firmware. I don't advocate directly uploading calibrations to the radio, even those recommended by the firmware author. You need to understand what's responsible for what in the file and, instead of uploading the recommended file in its entirety, edit your own file, copying only what you need from the file provided. In the second part of the video, I give an example of uploading a calibration file suggested by one of Quansheng's active users. I uploaded the file to one of the stations and provided the measurement results. Then I converted the same station to river and satcom channels and measured its parameters after calibration using the instruments. Editing is necessary to correctly set the power levels in Low, Mid, and High modes. The problem is that the Quansheng radio's power ratio is incorrect out of the box, and the ratio between low and high power is usually no more than two times. Unfortunately, the power calibration procedure requires, in addition to a computer, a device for measuring it, at least a display meter and a dummy load. It is also advisable to monitor the radio's current consumption during calibration. In practice, it's recommended to keep the radio's current consumption in Low mode within 0.4-0.6 A, in Mid mode 1-1.2 A, and in High mode no more than 1.5 A.
