Straight lines in the sky (short version)

Thanks to the FABEC Night Network programme, at the end of 2010, some 115 new routes were implemented, shortening total flight distance by 1.5 million km per year and resulting in savings of 4,800 t of kerosene and 16,000 t of CO2. But what Night Network program is all about? How is it implemented? And what are the advantages for the air traffic development?
