Kanchibiya Traditional Leaders Commend Govt for Economic Reforms
By Chansa Kunda Traditional leaders in Kanchibiya District have hailed the Government for its economic reforms that have translated into increased businesses and more employment opportunities through public sector recruitment. Speaking on behalf of the traditional leaders, Chief Kabinga of the Bisa people says major reforms like the debt restructuring process have helped stimulate Zambia's economy. Chief Kabinga says this has translated into job creation, enhanced Consistency Development Fund-CDF allocation and introduction of various initiatives like the Cash for Work programme. He has also thanked the Government for strengthening the country's national reserves. He was speaking when Vice President Mutale Nalumango paid a courtesy call on the traditional leaders today. The traditional leaders say the reserves should not be politicised as they are aimed at safeguarding the country's finances. They have since pledged to work with the Government to develop the country. The Vice President said the Government is working tirelessly to address the cost of living. Mrs. Nalumango said this will be done by ensuring people have sustainable income that will enable them save for the future.
