Dream Theater - Home (Symphonic Arrangement)

"It's calling me back to my home!" Act 2 of Scenes from a Memory begins with Home, the longest and by far the heaviest song on the whole record. Along with The Dance of Eternity, this was one of the very first Dream Theater songs I ever heard, so it's an incredibly special song for me. What I wanted to achieve with this arrangement was to really nail down the exotic vibes this song brings. The whole track has an atmosphere that I really wanted to get right; it's what makes the song so memorable. By far, the most difficult part was the guitar solo. I really tried to make the original melodies work, but I found it to be almost unplayable for orchestral musicians. So I had to improvise (like I always do) with the melodies and rhythms. In the end, while it's not the same solo, I'm quite happy with my reimagining of it. This whole orchestration definitely took me a while to do, so I hope you enjoy it!
