Light and Far in New Zealand | An Epic South Island Motorcycle Journey

This is the story of an incredible motorcycle trip on the South Island of New Zealand. In May 2026, right at the cusp of winter, Logan and I went on a 2000+ kilometre trip. Riding at the "wrong" time of year meant that unpredictable weather and route closures laid waste to any genuine ability to plan. Taking it one day at a time, we ended up riding some of the most scenic routes on the East coast of the South Island, through Central Otago and the breathtaking Mackenzie Country. Logan was on the mighty Yamaha Tenere 700 running the recently launched Viaterra LFA XC Rackless Saddlebags, LFA XC Tank Bag and LFA Tailbag. I was on a brand-new KTM 390 Enduro R set up with the LFA XC Rackless Saddlebags and Tank Bag - a genuinely lightweight adventure setup in every sense. Our stubborn determination to find the more scenic route ensured that we also found ourselves a good adventure. Watch the video to find out how the story played out. Shout out to ‪@ViaTerraGear‬ for placing their faith in us to live this adventure and produce this first ever Viaterra Original travel film. We are extremely proud to have been a part of this ambitious effort by a brand that has the same passion for adventure and travel as all of us who use their gear! #onelifetotravel
