One Police Sign Changed Our Day | VanlifeNZ • S1E72

Two women from New Zealand attempting to drive their van around the world 🌏🚐 (And finding out that one highway sign can completely change your day…) After months exploring New Zealand’s South Island, we’ve finally left the comfort of Christchurch behind. The goodbyes have been said, the cupboards have been stocked, Iceberg is loaded to the roof with supplies, and it’s time to head north. What should have been a straightforward travel day quickly takes an unexpected turn when a highway sign suddenly lights up with our details and directs us somewhere we’ve never been before. But that was only the start of the adventure. As we make our way up the coast, we settle into a beautiful freedom camping spot beside the sea, deal with a very unhappy bumblebee sting, navigate a prescription mix-up, explore historic Māori food storage sites, discover jellyfish washed ashore, and finally make one of the biggest decisions of our entire New Zealand journey. The ferry is booked. In just a few days we’ll be leaving the South Island behind and crossing Cook Strait to begin exploring New Zealand’s North Island before Iceberg eventually heads overseas for the next chapter of our adventure. Sometimes the biggest milestones don’t happen where you expect them to. 👉 Subscribe to follow our full-time van life journey across New Zealand and beyond as we continue travelling one kilometre at a time. 🚌 Louise & Kelly | Sold on Adventure An LGBTQ couple from Christchurch, New Zealand living full-time van life in our self-converted Mercedes Sprinter van, “Iceberg”.
