What is a Natural/Biological Wine? | Thomas Niedermayr | Natural Producer in Alto Adige

What is a “natural” and “biological” wine? Why it is called that? Thomas Niedermayr, a natural wine producer, explains it to us. Its vineyards are located in Appiano Monte municipality in Alto Adige/Südtirol, on the famous Wine Route (Appiano sulla Strada del Vino/Eppan an der Weinstraße), in Northern Italy. These vineyards are a treasure for biodiversity: many kinds of flowers, hedges and plants grows naturally and guarantee life for insects, bees, butterflies and many other pollinators, as well as shelter and food for many species of birds. This allows a balance between safeguarding biodiversity and the unique flavor of grapes that grow here, because the spontaneous herbs protect naturally the soil that will give life to the wine, giving a lot of organic substance. Thomas Niedermayr has been working for over 30 years without feeding fertilizers, manure, compost and so on… only the natural cycle of nature. Among Thomas Niedermayr wines, the are especially white wines: Solaris, Bronner, Souvignier gris. Enjoy the images from this beatiful part of our Alps, and … SALUTE SEMPRE SALUTE!
