The station stop was relocated in 1898 to its current location on the bypass line. The closure of the marshalling yard in 1997 also marked the end of the line. The tracks were removed around 2004. The repurposing of the former Hilbersdorf marshalling yard was only partially successful. Besides the Saxon Railway Museum and the cable-operated shunting system, part of the station was preserved as a museum exhibit. 21 hectares were converted into a photovoltaic area in 2014. The area around the transshipment hall is a potential commercial site, currently unused, and a biotope with scrubland. The station building is a privately owned ruin visible from afar.
