IL MOSTRO DEL KM. 47. Ernesto Picchioni.

Ernesto Picchioni's house, along the Salaria, is a dirty, isolated shell where travelers come and go. He welcomes them kindly, sits them down, watches them. Then, when night falls and the road is silent, he strikes. For money, for necessity, for an instinct no one has ever been able to fully explain. The truth explodes with the murder of Alessandro Daddi, when Picchioni is spotted riding his moped. Remains, objects, and traces of lost lives emerge around the farmhouse. The area becomes a black dot on the map, a stretch of road people avoid. Arrested after his family's confessions, he shows no remorse. In prison, he remains a dangerous, unpredictable man, capable of outbursts of violence even behind bars. He dies there, leaving behind a trail of deaths never fully clarified and a stretch of the Salaria that for years bore his name like a shadow.
