Discussions revolve around three main issues: the Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon, the deployment of the Lebanese army, and the future of Hezbollah's weapons. According to leaks from the meetings, a clear difference exists between the Lebanese and American positions. While Lebanon demands a complete and immediate withdrawal from the southern regions, Washington favors a gradual approach based on testing specific areas first before moving to broader phases. The United States believes this mechanism could help build trust and assess the readiness of the new security arrangements. This round of talks also gains added importance due to its connection with preparations for the anticipated meeting between Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and the US President in Washington. Therefore, the various parties are striving to minimize areas of disagreement as much as possible before this important political event.
