In a deep geopolitical analysis of the regional and international landscape, writer and political analyst Riad Souma, in an interview on the "Viewpoint" program on Red TV and the Spot Shot platform, argued that betting on a decisive and final victory over Iran by figures like Benjamin Netanyahu or Donald Trump is a delusion and unrealistic in the long run. He emphasized that the real alternative is not resolving the conflict, but rather managing it. Souma pointed out that the world is going through a phase where radical solutions are elusive. The major conflicts between America and China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea are historical rivalries spanning decades or even centuries, forcing each party to adapt to the logic of conflict and manage it at the lowest possible cost. Regarding the American strategy toward Tehran, Souma explained that it is shifting from the idea of ​​"regime change and the dismantling of Iran" to a plan of "political siege and regional isolation." This plan relies on attempting to win over neighboring countries such as Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt, while simultaneously dismantling the core of the Iranian regime and isolating its allies in Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, and Yemen. All of this is being done while maintaining carefully measured doses of military pressure without escalating into a full-blown war. Souma likened the current American role to Britain's historical role in managing European balances two centuries ago. He described Washington as acting as a "maestro" preventing any regional power from completely dominating another. If Turkey expands its influence, America strengthens the Saudi-Israeli-Egyptian axis to contain it. If Iran fully regains its role, Washington encourages Israel, Turkey, and Egypt to confront it, with the aim of keeping everyone within certain limits. Souma asserted the collapse and failure of the "Greater Israel" project, which Netanyahu had spearheaded with a frenzied exclusionary approach, attempting to eliminate Turkey and Iran and partition Saudi Arabia. He believes Netanyahu has returned to his natural size as a regional player trying to build a small empire through alliances stretching from Somalia to the Gulf and the Kurds, all under the umbrella of the major powers. Despite this failure, Souma believes the Americans haven't decided to remove Netanyahu because he represents a "big stick" used to intimidate and curb the ambitions of other regional powers. He points out that all parties in the region have expansionist ambitions, but Israel's ambition is the most bloody because it is based on the original sin of occupying Palestinian land. Souma concludes his analysis by asserting that the region is heading towards a long and protracted path of "mutual fragmentation and pluralism" governed by agreements, betrayals, pressures, and security messages.
