Castelo Rodrigo is located at an elevation of 820 meters, from where you can see the Serra da Marofa, the village of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo and a vast array of landscapes that reach into neighboring Spain. Castelo Rodrigo is located on top of a hill, which preserves important references from the medieval period. For over 600 years, the village was a town and county seat. At various times in national history, its inhabitants stood out for their courage and loyalty to the crown.
