Siân Box talks about travelling, independence and living with Cerebral Palsy
In this week's episode of Beautiful. Diverse. Human., Joanna sits down with the incredible Siân Box, who shares her experiences of growing up with Cerebral Palsy and navigating a world that isn't always designed with accessibility in mind. Cerebral Palsy is a lifelong neurological condition that affects movement, muscle tone, and posture. But as you'll quickly discover, Siân refuses to let barriers define what she can and can't do. From childhood experiences to independent travel, Sian shares her story with honesty and humour. We discuss the challenges she faces when travelling, particularly flying, and why she continues to push forward despite the obstacles. As Sian puts it: "The world isn't accessible. If I don't do it, I am never going to do it." This episode is a powerful reminder that accessibility barriers still exist, but also a celebration of resilience, independence, and refusing to let inaccessible systems stop you from living your life. A quick note: Unfortunately, we experienced some technical difficulties during recording and lost part of the conversation. As a result, this episode is a little shorter than usual but it's absolutely worth listening to.
