VN24 - 10/19/2021 - Porta-Westfalica / Veltheim (Germany) - In an accident on the morning of Oct. 19 on the A2 highway, a truck driver was trapped in the cab and seriously injured by flying extra cab equipment, such as an unsecured storage board on the dashboards. Firefighters freed the driver by sawing open the windshield. Rescue workers then transported the injured man to a hospital. According to current findings, a tractor-trailer driver with Polish registration was driving on the A2 towards Dortmund (westbound) at around 07:10 am. Between the Veltheim and Porta-Westfalica junctions, the truck driver lost control, presumably due to an internistic emergency, and the truck veered to the right into an embankment, where the semitrailer overturned and came to rest on the driver's side.
