In 1992, Sheikh Ahmed Tamim founded the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Ukraine. Among the primary tasks of the society was the construction of a mosque. On February 5, 1996, the Kyiv City State Administration decided to allocate a plot of land to the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Ukraine for the construction and maintenance of a mosque. The mosque was built in stages, with money donated by the city's Muslims. Already after the completion of the first part of the construction of the mosque - since 1998, services in it began to be held on Fridays and major holidays. The mosque was named Ar-Rahma (Mercy). In 2000, a crescent moon was installed on its dome, and from that day the temple opened its doors to the faithful. In November 2011, all works on the construction of the mosque were completed. After reconstruction, "Ar-Rahma" can receive about three thousand believers at the same time. The mosque regularly holds Friday prayers (Juma prayers) and festive services on the days of Ramazan Bayram and Kurban Bayram. In addition, the complex has a cafeteria, the Halal Certification Center, a school, the administration of DUMU, a canteen, a conference hall, a sports ground, etc. A full-fledged building of the Ukrainian Islamic University is under construction nearby.
