Nickel Plate Road 358: The Tri State Summer Excursion

What was expecting to be another exciting weekend along the Indiana Northeastern Railroad with Nickel Plate Road 765 turned into an unexpected turn when it was discovered that it suffered a significant problem with its feedwater system that would result 765 being sidelined for the weekend. Instead, Nickel Plate Road SD9 358 would take over leading The Tri-State Steam Excursion along the Indiana Northeastern Railroad from Edon, Ohio to Hillsdale, Michigan. Despite the unexpected news, we took the opportunity to get some footage of NKP 358 since we don't really have much coverage of the SD9 in action. On June 19-20 of 2026, our production team headed out to the INE with a couple friends from the Chicagoland area on this gorgeous summer day out trackside following NKP 358.
