Sagastipean, Javier Busto - Cuore (live, 2025)

The finale of Cuore Chamber Choir's 10th anniversary concert, conducted by Amy Ryan. We love singing this piece not only because of Busto’s exuberant writing in the dancing middle section (‘con espíritu festivo’) where our sopranos and altos imitate the ‘alboka’, a reedy Basque instrument, but also because it reminds us of our first visit to Cork International Choral Festival in 2018, when we were awarded four prizes in total, including the John Mannion Memorial Trophy for our performance of this piece in the National Mixed Voice Competition.
